YES! YES THEY DO!!!!! My mother *loved* her cashew milk ice cream. She begs us to go there when they come to visit.
They were open last Friday around 5 pm.
Went there last night. No indoor seating. Everything was carryout only.
No
I think they show the ice cream being rolled up on their website, but, I believe that they have gotten away from doing that and simply scoop up the ice cream after it's made. On our trip they used scoops to fill our cups. It might be that the rolling of the ice cream may have been to labor intensive. Go by anyway and ask, they may do it for you.
Technically no but tarro is close enough
Nope
No rolled ice cream here. Just cold creamy scoops made while u watch.
Last time i was there they were not serving rolled ice cream, but i guess they are now....
No they do not have
The best and most unique ice cream experience you will ever have. Lactose intolerant options available. All ice cream flavors are made to order using a device called an anti-griddle.
The whole milk Nutella flavor with added bananas was incredible!! Very interesting to watch the ice cream process as well!
This is one of those bucket list places. The ice cream is made on the spot, right in front of you. They start with milk, flavoring and then make the ice cream in large cold pans, which are about minus 32 degrees Fahrenheit. They literally cook it with cold, folding it, turning it over repeatedly, and eventually you get a very tasty ice cream, which they scoop up in balls and put in cups. Be sure to get the waffle-lined cup. They have a lot of other things too, which I have not tried. But the menu is fairly extensive. Highly recommended. I take it that this is very popular in Asia.
Take your ice cream to the next level! Choose your base, and what you want mixed in and watch them make your ice cream in front of you! Also, fresh taiyaki. Made in front of you. What could be better?
Definitely a place to go. They make their own types of ice cream if you want skim, soy or almond milk. They also have taiyaki. One of my favorite. I am attaching red bean and a chocolate cream filling. Red bean is my favorite. Make sure you tip the people here! I have been here already twice in two weeks!
Very delicious! They are open pretty late until 10:30PM to satisfy that tummy!
This business is way overpriced. The quality of the icecream was mediocre to say the least. The business was not that clean either. One positive was that the people were friendly.
My husband really enjoys the ice cream. It's not my cup of tea texture wise. It's $4.99 for a small with two mix in and an offer of bowl or waffle bowl.
Wanted to come here for the ice cream rolls, all we got was ice cream scoops.. did not expect that so we just decided to eat it like that. Got taro and green tea flavours and they were too sugary for my taste. Next time I want actual scoops I'll just go to my local ice cream shop instead of driving 30 minutes to be disappointed.
Very good ice cream, made right in front of you. The only issue was that I added caramel to the icecream and it didn't taste good. Would revisit
Shared a small patbingsu (shaved ice with sweets) with a friend for $8. Also got a few tayaki s which were a bit over-priced, but may be worth paying if you just want to try it once in a while. Patbingsu and tayaki are difficult to find in Jacksonville. Their menu is a bit inaccurate with tayaki flavors and patbingsu pricing but the staff are really friendly. The place looks like it needs a little cleaning. Liked the throw-back kpop music playing in the background
Decent ice cream. They make it right in front of you and I really appreciate the customization of flavor, milk type, and toppings. They also have a lot of unique flavors to choose from. It's maybe a bit more expensive than some ice cream, but it's a quite fun experience, and you get pretty decent portion sizes - the small (see pictured) comes with 3 scoops of icecream.
Food taste ok wish they have more options for ice cream and shaved ice. Will be back.
Last time I was in Jacksonville, they didn't have this on place on the map of places to eat at. I couldn't wait to get this, since the opportunity presented itself. I made the order pretty difficult for the staff member who took my order. I ordered a whole dozen of taiyaki, but each with a different flavor on the menu. Did pretty good in making them in 15 min. Would love to have this where I live.
Great place to have ice cream any milk type, flavor and toppings. Very delicious!
Top scores all around for the staff and food. I've cream was fresh and delightful. The Taiyaki was warm, sweet, and heavenly. I can't wait to come back.
This place makes your Ice Cream on the spot! I got the chocolate and it was smooth, creamy, and not too rich. The staff is super friendly and were very quick. Will 100% come back for more. My wife got the peanut butter and a friend got the coconut and they both loved their choices.
Had to wait for over 40 minutes for my girlfriend and I’s ice cream. It was good tasting but not worth the wait. Not to mention there were only 3 people ahead of us at the time. There wasn’t a sense of urgency by the staff and it seems overall they were understaffed. The craziest thing was while we were waiting a line of 10 people built up behind us. Seems like a management problem since there were only two people on staff and only one person actually serving the ice cream which took about 5-10 minutes each. Overall not worth 40 minutes of our time for ice cream, if you get lucky and there’s nobody in front of you in line I would say go for it. But if you see more than one person already in the shop prepare to wait a good long while.
Her customer service was really bad. We were the only customer there and she was just so lazy it was like someone was forcing her to work, and the ice cream’s milk wasn’t even frozen yet when she handed to me. She was disrespectful to me while she handed me the ice cream; with a rude face and didn’t say anything to me afterwards. And its not like I was buying a cheap ice cream; I paid $6 for one ice cream and I get all this attitude. I don’t recommend this place at all.
I’ve been to this establishment once before, and it was super busy. This time it was relatively slow. Maybe because it is the dead of winter. Originally, I came here to get the rolled ice cream, but they don’t do that here. The ice cream was nice and light. You have an option to pick 2 non fruit choices or 1 fruit choice as a topping. The ice cream was then mixed on the cold stone with your selection of cream base. The ice cream was also served in a waffle cone at no additional cost. Also, available were Taiyaki which are fish shaped pastry with filling in them. I didn’t get a chance to try one this time, but I had one in the past here and it was pretty tasty from what I remembered.
this ice cream place is unique because they actually create the ice cream right in front of you on a plate that is very very cold. The other thing that I really like about it is not you are able to choose what kind of base you want for your ice cream. I recently went vegan and they are able to start with an almond milk base. They also have other vegan ingredients that you can put in your ice cream and I would highly recommend it.
I absolutely love 5f(x). I have been coming since 2012 and really love the shop. I will say that it seems that the staff and quality have gone down over the years (the reason for 4 stars), but I really do love the food there. The taiyaki (the fish shaped waffles) are scrumptious. Essentially custard filled waffles. I love them, and can never pick just one. Taro and Bavarian cream are my favorites. The ice cream as well is great. They have many different options for add-ins and milks for those who are dairy intolerant. The flavor range is good, and the toppings have a good range.Overall, go here. Eat many delicious items. The lattes here vary extremely in my opinion. In 2012 they seems to be flavoring and milk (so good, albeit a little sweet), then they did start putting espresso, now I think they are made with a machine with gives a flavor I’m not sold on, personally.
The ice cream was delicious and the people were very nice. Decent selection of toppings.
Very good ice cream here, you need to try the taro flavor, original and good. You pick a flavor, what milk you want, then topping, and waffle bowl or cup. The waffle bowl makes a good mix with ice cream. They also make good taiyaki, you need to try with nutella inside.
Cool little place. Great ice cream and waffles. If you have not had it, you have to try it. They have great opening hours also, during the week they are open until 11PM. The place is a little outdated and could use some sprucing up, other than that I love it.
Staff is always friendly! & ice cream is always made fresh infront of you. Can’t beat it.
We was hoping to get rolled ice cream but they said they changed their policy. My husband ordered: whole milk, banana, & raspberry (it was delicious). I ordered: 2% milk, chocolate, & banana (it was ok but his was way better!) We also ordered the fish pancakes. The red bean was not to our liking and we also got the Nutella which was better filling.
Delicious ice creams and Taiyaki. Lots of flavor to choose. I tried Taiyaki for the first time and best hot dessert I have ever tasted.
Very good. Wish they had a greater selection of toppings.
Are they even open anymore ? Drive all the way across town because it said they were open , got there just for the place to be closed with the lights of at 1 in the afternoon.
Impeccable ice cream and its a must visit location for visitors and locals. Depending on your choice of what's on the menu there can be a fun variation in your experience. What I mean by that is you can go traditional with your plain chocolate and vanilla ice cream or go for the taiyaki experience what is very good and I would recommend the taro option. Enjoy!
I like the type of I cream they serve. The employees that work there are very nice. The reason for the one star is the owner. I have been coming to five fix for a year now. I have constantly seen problems with them running out of flavors. Extended period of time before they get them back in or even at all. in particular Lavender. Containers and lids are out of stock aiot. Today was the last straw when I got home took my ice cream out of bag. The lid was a soft drink lid covering my ice cream. I had to place saran wrap of container to put in freezer. This is unacceptable. The owner of this establishment has a good product but is running it poorly. It seems she more into the profit she can rack in verses making sure her customers get the product she offers. In the right containers with the proper Lids.
This place has charming staff, wonderful prices, and super fresh and delicious Taiyaki! We ordered Nutella and Red Bean filled Taiyaki. The Taiyaki dough was not too sweet, and the red bean had actual pieces of red bean (not just all mushed). Delish! Will try the ice cream next.
I brought my daughters to this place for dessert, since they wouldn't stop clamoring on about needing dessert. We weren't too far away, and this location came up when I searched for "ice cream near me" on Google Maps. It's a place we've never tried, so we gave it a shot. I had the peanut butter ice cream with pecans and chocolate chips, served in a waffle bowl. The ice cream wasn't real heavy, since it was made with whole milk VS cream. Still had decent flavor, though. The staff was friendly and talkative, one of them even talked to my daughter for a few moments while preparing her ice cream. We'll come to me back one day.
Unfortunately have to give one star, hours show open until 11 pm. Drove across all of Jacksonville and got there at 10:15 pm just for a locked door. Looks really good though!
I love the 🍦 and the Taiyaki Waffle
This is not just a regular ice cream place, this is an anti-grill ice cream place! For those who don't know, an anti-grill operates exactly like a regular grill, except that it freezes things instead! Just walk in, choose a flavor, and they'll roll the cream into frozen goodness right in front of you! There are many flavors to choose from and even Takoyaki!! Also, super awesome Korean music is often playing!! This is for the fellow weebs and the ice cream lovers!
The ice cream was phenomenal, but it has a different texture than normal store-bought ice cream (in a good way). The taiyaki was also amazing, it was warm, fluffy, and delicious. There were many different flavors for both the ice cream and the taiyaki. The place is a bit small, so it could get crowded pretty easily. The wait time for everything was wasn't long considering the fact that they make the ice cream in front of you. The music was kpop, and it wasn't obnoxious or too loud, but just right. My group won't stop talking about how much we enjoyed our trip to Five F(x) Ice Cream.
Great ice cream. Fresh flavors and ingredients. A definite recommend for everyone. It's not just ice cream it's fun.
We love there ice cream and food! Handmade right in front of you. Lately they have had inconsistent hours only open around 2-3 times a week on different days. Good food if you can catch them when open. Just wish there hours were true to there sign posted
Best place in Jax for ice cream. Only people who wouldn’t like it are closed minded people. Try new things people!!!
Their ice cream and taiyaki are great. They really need more employees working at night to keep the line moving... Especially Friday night. I also ordered their hot Thai tea which was quite strange since it had loose leaves in it... First time I had it that way and kept having leaves stuck in my teeth... I prefer it steeped. One star off for being short staffed and one star off for strange Thai tea.. other than that it's good.
I randomly yelped ice cream and ended up here. I'm glad that I gave this place a try. This is a very small ice cream shop, there are a handful of tables. They offer lots of different flavors of ice cream. It can be overwhelming when you look at the long list. When you order: pick your flavor, then what type of milk you want it made in and then the size. They offer regular milk, almond and soy milk. Two toppings are included in the price. They mix up the flavoring with the milk, place it on a cold plate and scrape the milk continuously to create the "ice cream". They ask what the two toppings you want and then fold the toppings in the ice cream itself. This all takes about 5 minutes. I tried the mint ice cream with almond milk in a waffle cone. It was pretty good. I also ordered a waffle shaped like a fish stuffed with nutella and that was really good with the ice cream. This was a fun and different experience and I would come here again. I want to try the thai tea flavor next time.
Great place to have a ice cream, different flavors and all of them are tasty. Guys here are really cool an polite.
I loved the fact they made the ice cream infront of you with fresh fruit and you can choose your base, almond milk, coconut milk, whole milk, etc. It's not too sweet!!!! Tried the taiyaki and I've had better, it was more like cake and the red beans were not mashed good and it left a weird after taste.
Love this place! Is amazing everything is done fresh at the moment and right in front of you. You need to give it a try. Great customer service and great and Friendly staff.
Freshest homemade ice milk ever! (While delicious, they should not call it ice "cream" because it is not made with cream). You pick your ice milk base; almond milk, skim milk, 2%, whole milk and yogurt. The flavors are incredible, but I always get coconut flavored whole milk with coconut flakes and choc chips. They freeze it instantly on a dry ice metal slab and it sizzles like its boiling. Delicious and HIGHLY recommended.
They make the ice cream right in front of you it's great and very authentic it was very delicious .
Check this place out! The taiyaki is wonderful with tasty fillings (peanut butter was amazing). The ice cream is a little expensive but they make it to-order, right in front of you. The waffle cup and 2 toppings are included with the price (waffle cup is thin, sweet, and perfectly crunchy/flakey) It’s an experience, and a tasty one at that! Worth the price point, for sure.
I love that there are multiple milk options! You choose your flavor, choose your milk, and choose two mix-ins or toppings and they make your ice cream right in front of you. A waffle cone is built into the price, so don't hesitate to get that! One thing to note: 3 of the 4 of us felt that our ice cream wasn't very sweet, which is totally fine by me, but just know that going in. Make good use of your toppings to make it sweeter, if that's what you're after. Only 4 stars because the seating area was pretty gross.
